Tap-firing or short bursts actually pay off, especially at mid to long range. It’s not just about yanking your mouse down to control recoil anymore; it’s about timing and positioning. Guns like the M5A3 or AK-24 feel solid, and when you win a fight, you know it’s because you outplayed the other guy, not because the game decided to favour you.
Then there’s the C5 drone problem. If you’ve been on the receiving end, you know how ridiculous it’s been. Someone would strap explosives to Casper’s Recon Drone, fly it right into your tank or chopper, and boom – instant kill. There was barely any counterplay, and it made vehicle gameplay a nightmare. That’s gone now. You can’t stick gadgets or explosives to the drone anymore. Simple fix, massive impact. Vehicles feel safer, and you’re not constantly looking over your shoulder for a flying death box. It’s the kind of change that makes the whole game flow better.
On top of that, we’ve got new stuff to play with. The standout is the new map, Exposure. It’s set in the Canadian Rockies after a landslide, and it’s got this mix of huge cliff drops, tight indoor labs, and open spaces perfect for tanks and helis. The vertical gameplay is a nice change from the flatter launch maps, and it keeps fights unpredictable. Plus, classic weapons from Portal – the M16A3 and M60-E4 – are now available in All-Out Warfare. That’s more variety for loadouts and more ways to mix things up in matches.
All in all, this patch feels like a step in the right direction. Gunplay’s sharper, cheap exploits are gone, and there’s fresh content to keep things interesting. If DICE keeps this momentum, Battlefield 2042 could finally become the game we hoped for at launch. Whether you’re pushing objectives with your squad or just messing about in a Bf6 bot lobby, you’ll notice the difference – and it’s a good one.
